Carriers Protective Legislation Removed, Block Exemptions No Longer A Fall To Competition.

The EU shipping industry, specifically its vessel owners and shippers, will be faced with a changing climate of competition amongst its allocation of ports-of-call and choices. Supply chain efficiency and fluidity calls for greater access and routings for ports-of-call that are not reliant on the routes that pay the most return.

Short sea shipping has always been effective in meeting intermodal systems of modes of transportation that can alternate, specifically in connections to major railways and roadways. The key is to utilize all modes of transportation, regardless of which has policy and public interest due favourable carriers or capital joint engagement.

Competition has been the largest set back and deterrent to fair game between major conglomerate owners that make up the leading top carriers of the world. What this has led to today is a global system of protectionist legislative system in place that has ports and terminals being purchased by owners that control how the port will employ technologies, use labour, price its services. The largest container lines are cutting hubs of influence in the name of green shipping and climate change in the use of technologies that do not require as much labour.
